WCSSAA Senior: Top Seeds SJAM, Cameron, Through To Finals

The top-two seeds in the WCSSAA Senior League advanced through to the championship final on Wednesday, with the Grand River-SJAM game coming right down to the final minute.

The 'Landers had just four players hit the scoresheet, but thankfully for them those players all hit for at least 13 points --- Nedim Hodzic (21), Brett Parrott (20), Simon Petrov (14) and Justin Hardy (13).

SJAM was never able to pull away from the Rens, leading by 6-9 points on several occasions but Grand River didn't let it get further than that.  They trailed by 4 points after three quarters, and a couple of late three-pointers made it down to a 2-point game (62-60) in the final minute before solid free throw shooting by the 'Landers helped them close it out in a 68-63 final.

At Cameron Heights, the Gaels did a great job of containing KCI's dynamic duo of Stefan Simic and David Ben-Lemotey in a 50-38 win over the Raiders.

Chris Phomsouvanh and Ivan Cucak had 10 each to pace the Gaels to their second-straight WCSSAA finals appearance, while Marko Milvanovic had a game-high 11 for the Raiders with Seif Adan adding 6.

SJAM and Cameron Heights also both advance to next weekend's "AAAA" CWOSSA tournament, alongside Brantford Assumption and one of St. Mary's, St. Benedict or JF Ross depending on how the D8 Finals and CWOSSA play-in game turn out.
