WCSSAA Senior: Quarterfinal Tuesday

The home teams all advanced through in the qualifying round, meaning that the top 8 seeds will battle in today's quarterfinals.

Among the games on the docket, three of the games feature teams that matched up during the regular season, with two of those actually having just occurred last week.

Here's what we've got:

Senior
(1) SJAM vs. (8) Forest Hts.
RS:  SJAM 69, FHCI 56
The 'Landers are certainly the favourites in this one, especially at home.  If you exclude their game against Elmira, SJAM is on average about 10 PPG better in terms of margin of victory in their home games.  Sure, there's a limited sample and your opposition is a factor, but it can be a tough place to play.

My Pick:  SJAM by 18

(2) Cameron Hts. vs. (7) WCI
RS:  CHCI 77, WCI 55
Like SJAM-FHCI, these teams met up just last week, which was a game that WCI needed to win to advance in the standings (CHCI was relatively stuck in the #2 seed).  The Gaels prevailed in that one, and from the few minutes that I watched that game, it was clear that CHCI's size (up front but even at the guard spots) presents some match-up issues for the Vikes.  Limiting second-chance points is going to be huge for the Vikes to have a shot down the stretch here.

My Pick:  CHCI by 13

(3) KCI vs. (6) Eastwood
RS:  DNP
This is possibly the quarterfinal I'm most excited about.  Should be a very entertaining game over at KCI, between two teams that can put up some points.  Both of these clubs have upset potential as far as the rest of the WCSSAA playoffs go.  Hard to pick against my alma mater, but I'm going with a full-rostered Rebel crew to take a close one.

My Pick:  ECI by 4

(4) Grand River vs. (5) Galt
RS:  GRCI 85, GCI 45
The Rens controlled their regular season affair, putting up 85 points and limiting GCI's TJ Lall to just 15, although part of that was due to playing time given the margin of the contest.  I'm expecting a closer game this time around, but the Rens should still prevail.

My Pick:  GRCI by 12
