The D4 championships were held on Wednesday afternoon, with the Westside (Orangeville) Thunder taking home the senior title and the Wellington Heights Wolverines grabbing the junior crown.
However, things were a little interesting, particularly on the senior side of things.
After defeating the Centre Dufferin (Shelburne) Royals 59-20 and 61-27 during their two regular season games, most onlookers were expecting a similar score in this one.
The result? Try a 39-34 squeaker for Westside. Ivana Juric had 16 while CDDHS' star Rachel Krushnisky paced their effort with 14.
The Thunder will advance through to the D4-D10 CWOSSA "AAA" qualifier next week against Guelph St. James. Wellington Heights will also represent the D4 at the "AA" level.
On the junior side of things, the Wellington Heights Wolverines took the D4 title (and an "AA" CWOSSA spot) with a 41-30 win over their rivals from Norwell.
Nicole Bauman continued her stellar season with a 17-point outing, while Kristie McBride chipped in 8 more for the winners. Laura Roth (14) and Laura Rumph (13) were the top scorers for Norwell.
