The Walkerton DSS Raiders are back-to-back CWOSSA champions after defeating fellow BAA school Peninsula Shores (Wiarton) in the "A" CWOSSA final yesterday 32-23.
The Raiders qualify for their second consecutive OFSAA appearance, this one to be played in St. Catharines at Ridley College.
The semifinal ("A" CWOSSA is a four team event) saw the Raiders defeat Valley Heights from Langton 33-22.
Over the two games, Megan Lamont led the scoring with 17 points, Becky McTeer had 14 and Kathleen Whale netted 9.
Meanwhile, the Walkerton junior Raiders captured their first-ever CWOSSA title in school history in a defensive struggle, posting a 22-11 win over Peninsula Shores. This came on the heels of an impressive semifinal win, 34-10 over Waterford DHS.
Leading the way through the two games for the junior Raiders were Ciara Lark (15), and Paige VanderHeide (12).
