WCSSAA Senior Final: WCI 62, Eastwood 40

**Video Highlights to Come**

The WCI Vikings, with many of their players making their 2nd and 3rd WCSSAA finals appearances, used that experience to their advantage early in building an insurmountable lead in the WCSSAA senior championship game.

The difficulties for their opponents, the Eastwood Rebels, started early when star forward Michelle Hudyn picked up two fouls in the opening minutes of the game and had to sit for the remainder of the quarter.  WCI took advantage, leading 21-8 after one, and then going on an 18-2 run through the second frame as Eastwood could not get on track offensively.

The Rebels came out firing in the third quarter, and quickly started to chip into the 39-10 halftime deficit.  Although they brought that 29 point disadvantage down to 16 midway through the fourth, the seasoned WCI squad took the air out of the ball down the stretch and converted free-throw opportunities (they shot 85% for the game, 16/19) en route to a 62-40 win.

Lindsay Lessard led the way for WCI with 22, Alex Klein and Julia Pavlik scored 12 each, while Lindsay Taylor was the fourth Viking in double figures with 10.  WCI's scoring was rounded out by Lynn Dabrowski (4) and Ashley Hammerbacher (2).

The Rebels received a team-high 17 points and 16 rebounds from Hudyn, while Cailtyn Schlegel (8), Erika Gardiner (6), Lindsay Ward (5), and Meagan Karai (4) rounded out the ECI scoring.

Both teams will advance to this weekend's "AAAA" CWOSSA championships in Brantford.  WCI will be in a pool with St. Mary's and JF Ross, while the Rebels will play their pool games against Centre Wellington and St. John's.
