We're only 2 games into the season, but the Woodland Cavaliers look (at least on paper) as though they'll make a strong push to represent the D8 league at "A" CWOSSA this season.
After defeating one of the "A" schools, PRDG, handily on Monday, the Cavs took care of the other (Rockway Mennonite) by a 38-10 final on Wednesday --- meaning they've defeated both of the other "A" schools by a combined 89-17 margin.
Julianna Thompson poured in 18 points on Wednesday and is currently averaging 24.5 PPG through her first two games for Woodland. Emily Bax added 6 for WCHS, while Rockway received 10 from Asmlee Stettens and 6 from Emily Vos.
In other junior D8 action on Wednesday, the St. Benedict Saints dominated an all-Cambridge affair, taking care of the PRDG Chevaliers by a 44-4 score. Kayla Leusink (16) and Afifa Salaad (12) led the way again for SBCSS, while Christine Boileau and Rebekah Morin netted 2 each for PRDG.
The other game on Wednesday's schedule saw St. Mary's rebound from an opening-day loss to take out Monsignor Doyle 27-15. Lexie Stoyakovich (9) and Sara Jankvoic (6) paced the Eagles, while Samantha Artwell had 4 for the 'Stangs.
