Alex Klein has made up her mind.
WCI's 6'2" forward announced a (verbal) commitment yesterday to Bryant University, an NCAA Division I school located in Smithfield, RI.
The Bulldogs, who play in the Northeast Conference (NEC), went 14-15 overall last season including a 7-11 mark in NEC play. They return 4 starters from last year's squad this coming season, including their leading scorer --- a fellow Canadian, junior-to-be Naana Ankoma-Mensa (Brampton, ON/D'Youville).
Klein had recently made official visits to her shortlisted schools, which also included Stetson University (DeLand, FL) and Iona College (New Rochelle, NY).
Klein's commitment will also ensure that CWOSSA's streak of sending (at least) one player south of the border on an NCAA D-1 scholarship will continue. Here's a look at a few others, with their first year down south listed:
2012-13: Michelle Hudyn, Missouri (Eastwood/Kitchener)
2011-12: Kelly Van Leeuwen, Niagara (St. John's/Brantford)
2010-11: Jen Lennox, Canisius (Forest Hts./Kitchener)
2009-10: Kaila Montgomery, Cleveland St. (WCI/Waterloo)
Congrats, Alex!
