D4: Royals Open Up As Favourites in Playoff Action

Playoff week kicks off this week with junior and senior semifinal action in the D4 league.

The senior circuit sees the Centre Dufferin Royals enter play as the strong favourites to capture the league crown.  The Royals went undefeated during regular season play (10-0) and will play host to #4 Woodland Christian (5-5) this afternoon at 2:30pm.

The other senior semifinal sees #3 Norwell (6-4) travel to #2 Westside SS (6-4) in an afternoon tilt at 1:00pm.

In terms of CWOSSA qualification, the highest finishing "AA" school (Norwell or Wellington Heights) will advance to the CWOSSA championships in that division next week.  Should both teams lose today, then Norwell will advance by virtue of their higher seeding in the standings.

The highest finishing "AAA" school (Westside or CDDHS) will advance to host Guelph St. James in a CWOSSA qualifier next Tuesday.  The winner of that game gets a berth to the AAA tournament.

Today's junior action sees #4 Westside (4-4) travel to #1 Norwell (8-1) while #3 Centre Dufferin (4-4) plays #2 Wellington Heights (5-3).

The winners of today's semifinal games will battle on Wednesday for the D4 titles.
