Senior WCSSAA Thursday: Results

We'll keep a running tab on things here:

WODSS 67, Glenview Park 59
Coulton Roe poured in 21 points as WODSS might secure the 8th seed (and a home playoff game) should ECI also fall against Bluevale.  Erist Wame netted 18 for GPSS.  This also means that if one of Preston, Jacob Hespeler or Huron Heights are victorious today, Glenview Park would be officially eliminated.  Otherwise, it would come down to a tiebreak between those clubs --- so we'll see how that plays out.

KCI 42, Jacob Hespeler 31
The Hawks, like Glenview, also finish at 3-9 after losing at KCI.  The Raiders can take the #6 seed should WCI fall against Cameron Heights.  Devan Bogart led the Raiders with 12, while Alex Galea had 11.  Josh Kirkham netted 12 for JHSS, with Brendan Vandyken chipping in 10.

Update:  JHSS & GPSS are eliminated as a result of....

Huron Heights 74, Southwood 60
OK, it was a pretty safe bet saying earlier that Brian Doran (SSS) and Sean Samuel (HHHS) would score 20+......Samuel finished with 43 (!) points and Doran had 24 in this one.  This win also puts Southwood in a precarious situation, as if things fall a certain way with the tiebreaks they could be on the outside looking in.  Stay tuned....

Cameron Hts. 73, WCI 60
A high-scoring affair, with Cameron clinching 1st overall with the win.  Nebojsa Djeric netted 20 for CHCI, while Amjed Osman added 17.  Jacob Ranton scored 17 for the Vikes, while teammate Zach Totzke chipped in 9.

Preston 47, Galt 29
Congrats to the Preston Panthers on one of the more remarkable second-half turnarounds in WCSSAA history.  After starting the season 0-7, they have reeled off four wins in five games to probably make the playoffs (update:  not only do they make the playoffs, but as a result of the tiebreaks, PHS will finish 10th).  Wes Meertens and Sean Holmes had 10 each for PHS, while Jack Simmons scored 10 and Leon Vilayseng 6 for Galt.

Forest Heights 61, SJAM 52
The Trojans get by the shorthanded Highlanders at home, thanks to 15 from Srdjan Stanviuk and 14 from Kieran McAndrew.  Ben Reyhani led SJAM with 18, while Quinn Turner chipped in 16 in what could be a potential semifinal preview.  SJAM will take 3rd, while the Trojans finish 2nd.

Bluevale 56, Eastwood 45
The Knights ran away early, getting this up to 21 at the break before taking it home in the 2nd half.  Stefan Cvrkalj had a strong effort in his final WCSSAA regular season game, scoring 30 points.  Fraser Voll added 12 for BCI, while ECI received 12 from Gondor Teny and 10 from Jerelle Vaughan.

Playoff Update
1.  Cameron Heights
2.  Forest Heights
3.  SJAM
4.  Bluevale
5.  Grand River

7.  WCI
8.  WODSS

Tie For 10th
Galt 4-8
Southwood 4-8
Preston 4-8
Huron Heights 4-8

According to the WCSSAA tiebreak regulations, head to head during a 4-team tie will only be used if one team has beaten all of the other teams.  So, congratulations Preston!  They defeated Galt today, Huron Heights (67-50) and Southwood --- so they are the #10 seed.

We then go to the "three way tiebreak" scenarios for Southwood, Huron Heights, and Galt, who have all played each other.

The #11 seed, therefore, goes to Huron Heights, as a result of beating both Galt and Southwood during the regular season.

To determine the final playoff team, we look at the head to head matchup between Southwood and Galt.

The #12 seed goes to the Galt Ghosts as a result of their 61-47 regular season win over Southwood.

Southwood is the #13 seed, and are eliminated from playoff contention.

Jacob Hespeler "officially" finishes 14th at 3-8 as a result of their head to head win over Glenview, who take #15.

So, here's the recap:
#1 - Cameron Heights
#2 - Forest Heights
#3 - SJAM
#4 - Bluevale
