WCSSAA Thursday: Final Regular Season Games & Picks

WCSSAA YTD:  57-19 (.750)

Hopefully, we can make the record a little bit more respectable after I believe my worst day (ever) in WCSSAA picks --- a 2-5 mark.  So, here we go:

Jacob Hespeler (3-8) at KCI (7-4)
Pick:  KCI
The Hawks are fighting for their playoff lives but I expect the Raiders to come out with some fire after being upset on their home floor on Tuesday.  Raiders to win here.

Glenview Park (3-8) at WODSS (5-6)
Pick:  WODSS
Very important game here for both teams.  GPSS is obviously fighting for a playoff spot, while WODSS is trying to hold off the AAA teams behind them in the standings in order to have the best chance at securing an "AAA" CWOSSA berth.  I'll go with the homecourt Crusaders.

WCI (7-4) at Cameron Heights (10-1)
Pick:  CHCI
A Cameron win here gives them first place.  A loss, and they open the door for the FHCI/SJAM winner to take first spot overall.  A WCI win (or a KCI loss) would put them 6th, while a KCI win and a WCI loss gives the Vikes 7th.  I'll take CHCI, who looked impressive against Forest Heights but this one could be close.

Galt (4-7) at Preston (3-8)
Pick:  PHS
The Preston Panthers looked like the best 2-8 team I've seen in a while when I saw them in action against the KCI Raiders on Tuesday.  In fact, they may be one of the more dangerous teams in the lower half of the standings right now as evidenced by their recent run (3 wins in 4 games) as well as some of their close losses:  WCI (1), JHSS (3 - OT), GPSS (6), GRCI (7), SJAM (9).  They currently hold tiebreaking wins over SSS and Huron Heights, so a win in today's game would likely get them into the playoffs ---- I say likely because we saw how things didn't "go as expected" on Tuesday.  I'll take them to ride their momentum and pick them to win today.

Huron Heights (3-8) at Southwood (4-7)
Pick:  HHHS
The winner of this game will most likely make it into the playoffs.  Both teams are struggling their way in --- Southwood has dropped recent games to WODSS, GCI and Preston during their 4 game losing streak, while Huron Heights is riding a 3-game losing streak themselves.  I'll take a shot with Huron in this one, with a side bet that either Brian Doran or Sean Samuel make another 20+ appearance today.

Eastwood (5-6) at Bluevale (8-3)
Pick:  BCI
The Eastwood Rebels are a dangerous bunch, having lost by single digits to CHCI (8) and SJAM (6), and beaten WCI.  Eastwood actually also has more to play for here, as an ECI loss coupled with a WODSS win means Eastwood starts their playoff journey on the road, instead of at home.  Unfortunately for them, it's not an easy task winning at Bluevale so I'll take the Knights to win it here.

SJAM (9-2) at Forest Heights (10-1)
Pick:  FHCI
How many people expected that both of these clubs would be heading into this marquee matchup with "losing streaks'?  Yet, that is the case for both clubs who are battling for a CWOSSA "AAAA" berth.  The winner of this game can actually also take first place if CHCI loses their game to WCI.  Otherwise, the winner will take second place with the loser being placed 3rd.  Oh, and I'll take the Trojans since I don't see them losing 2 in a row at home.

GRCI - bye win (8-4 final record)
