D8 Wednesday: Eagles Stay Perfect, Celtics Take "AAA" Battle

In senior D8 action on Wednesday, the St. Mary's Eagles (as expected) moved to 3-0 with an 88-37 handling of the Rockway Flames.  Delondo Hibbert had 21 and Chris Cloutier 16 in the win for SMHS, while Jacob Reusser and Jordan Fayez had 8 each for Rockway.

St. David picked up a big first win for them on the year, as they took out Monsignor Doyle 49-35.  It's even bigger when you consider these are the two teams competing for D8's one "AAA" CWOSSA berth.  Jake Winter (19) paced the Celts, while Phil Ciompik added 9.  Usman Khan had 13 to lead the Mustangs.

Wednesday's D8 games went as expected, with 3 of the top teams in the league (St. Mary's, Resurrection and St. David) all posting double-digit wins.

The Eagles defeated Kitchener Rockway 66-20, backed by 14 points from Jimmy Voll.  Liam Robertson and Eric Pedersen had 6 each for the Flames.

Resurrection took care of Woodland Christian 64-24, thanks to 16 points from Mack Smith and 8 from Thomas Hunter.  Nathan Timmerman (8) and Shane Clarke (6) were the top Woodland performers.

Meanwhile, the St. David Celtics got past Monsignor Doyle 46-33.  George Dumitru had 14 and Dashaun Lalor 9 in the win; Jamal Bell led Doyle with 6.
