As expected, there were no surprises in D8 play on Wednesday, with the favourites in the D8 senior league posting comfortable victories.
That doesn't mean that there wasn't an interesting story, however.
For a variety of reasons, the Resurrection Phoenix only had 7 available players for yesterday's game against Rockway, with 2 of them having to leave at halftime for a separate commitment.
As a result, the remaining five players --- Adam Schneider, Tyler Schneider, Patric McGlynn, Mark Radcliffe and Cory Kenning --- were forced to play the entire second half. Kenning ended up posting 25 points in the 82-29 Resurrection victory, while Steve Veltri led the Flames with 8.
The other senior game on Wednesday saw St. Benedict handle St. David 51-20.
In junior, the lone "close" game was a 46-35 St. David victory over St. Benedict. Dashaun Lalor poured in 16 points in that win.
