The JF Ross Royals and Resurrection Phoenix both picked up 2 wins on Friday to start their weekend at the 24-team Chancellor Invitational Tournament in Hamilton.
The Royals came away with the most impressive win of the day, knocking off Oakville Loyola (currently #5 team in the GTA) by a 74-70 final. The Royals would then go on to take out London's Catholic Central in the second round by a 57-49 final.
Resurrection, meanwhile, got past Corpus Christi of Burlington 57-37, backed by 13 points each from John Moi and Cory Kenning. The Phoenix then defeated St. Theresa of Midland (#5 seed at OFSAA "AAA" last year) 54-48.
Things didn't go quite as well for the North Park Trojans, who dropped both of their games on Friday. The Trojans lost 58-38 to Burlington Notre Dame and then gave London Banting all they could handle before falling 44-41. Banting had earlier knocked off Toronto Northern (who you may remember from the Heinbuch) 59-45.
