WCSSAA Senior Tuesday: Trojans Need OT to get past WODSS

The early theme for the year thus far in WCSSAA play has been to expect the unexpected.  After a few upsets last week, the trend nearly continued on Tuesday out in Baden where my current #1 CWOSSA team, the Forest Heights Trojans, needed overtime to get past the pesky Waterloo-Oxford Crusaders.

The Trojans took the game by a final score of 78-72, with both Javon Masters (31) and Juwan Miller (32) topping the 30+ mark on Tuesday.  Jesse Dodgson had 23 and Patrick Connors 15 for the Crusaders, who drop to 2-1 on the year.

Two other games also went to OT on Tuesday, one of them seeing Huron Heights outlasting the Glenview Park Panthers 56-52.  Sean Samuel (24 for HHHS) and Chris Thompson (24 for GPSS) had a great individual battle in that one.  Devin Vihandy (12 - GPSS) and Alex Deadman (10 - HHHS) were also in double-figures for their respective clubs.

Here's a look at the rest of Tuesday's results:

Bluevale 50, WCI 48
My Pick:  WCI
The Knights give me my lone wrong selection of the evening as they slip past the Vikes here.  Jacob Ranton was out for this one, but he is expected back possibly as early as next week.  Rookies Jeevan Sidhu (12) and John Efechaobor (11) led the way for Bluevale; the Vikes received 13 from Adam Anagnostopoulos and 10 from Zach Totzke.

Cameron Heights 50, Eastwood 40
My Pick:  CHCI
Always a hard-fought rivalry game, and this one was no exception.  Vedran Dmitrovic paced all scorers with 19 for CHCI, while teammate Vladimir Matovic added 9.  Patric Pintea (12) and Djordje Govedarica (7) led the way for the Rebels.

Grand River 70, SJAM 48
My Pick:  GRCI
The 'Landers are still looking for their first win after dropping Tuesday's game to the Renegades.  Daniel Harun had 20 and Filip Cvrkalj 17 for Grand River; Ben Reyhani was slowed slightly due to injury but still finished with 15 points.  Nathaniel Ellis added 9 more for SJAM.

Southwood 38, Elmira 29
My Pick:  SSS
I said that one of these teams would crack 30 for the first time this season and pick up their first win - so perhaps I could count that as two correct selections?  At any rate, congrats to the Sabres on the W.  Zack Sauer had 11 and Austin Gordon 10 for Southwood; Elmira was led by Walker Stuart (10) and Lucas Nosal (7).

Jacob Hespeler 77, Galt 60
My Pick:  JHSS
Some fun games out in Hespeler this year, with Jason Quiring (17) and Eastern Commerce transfer Javon Bryce (22) leading the way for the Hawks.  Gabe Vidal had 15 and Jack Simmons 14 for Galt.

Preston 65, KCI 51
My Pick:  PHS
Important win for the Panthers against another "AAA" school on Tuesday.  Their balanced attack was keyed by Levi Kani (14), Nathan Walsh (13) and Sean Holmes (13).  Jeremy Settle had 12 for the Raiders, with Sam Basco and Julian Greer netting 9 each.
