WCSSAA & D10: Thursday Picks

D10 YTD:  7-1
WCSSAA YTD:  5-2

WCSSAA

Waterloo-Oxford (1-0) at Eastwood (0-2)
My Pick:  WODSS by 12
The Crusaders and Rebels just met last weekend in the consolation final of the Resurrection tournament, a game won by WODSS.  I think they'll continue their win streak against ECI here.

Grand River (2-0) at Bluevale (2-0)
My Pick:  GRCI by 15
First "true test" for the Knights as they take on the high-flying Renegades who are averaging --- yes, averaging --- over 80 PPG through their first 2 games.  I'll go with GRCI to continue their winning ways.

Elmira (0-2) at Galt (1-1)
My Pick:  GCI by 28
Look for the Ghosts to continue the early season woes of the youthful Elmira Lancers.

Jacob Hespeler (1-1) at Southwood (0-2)
My Pick:  JHSS by 26
Tough early-season schedule for the Sabres and it doesn't get any easier with (in my opinion) the best team in Cambridge coming to West Galt.  I'll take the Hawks to pick up their 2nd win of the year.

Forest Heights (2-0) at Cameron Heights (1-1)
My Pick:  FHCI by 9
The Gaels lost (a bit of a surprise) to Preston the other day, and could be looking at a 1-2 record with a loss to FHCI today.  While they're always tough at home, I'll go with the hot hands on the FHCI Trojan roster.

KCI (1-1) at Huron Heights (0-2)
My Pick:  KCI by 8
This game will be big for both of these "AAA" schools, and is a rematch of a playoff game (6 vs 11) from a season ago.  While both of these squads have changed drastically since then, I still like the Raiders to win this one.

WCI (2-0) at SJAM (0-2)
My Pick:  WCI by 9
The overall size of WCI's forward line should cause some problems for the Highlanders --- who will, however, be buoyed by the fact that this is a "buy out" game for students with a 2pm start.  As such, I expect SJAM to come out strong early but for the Vikes to wear them down by the end of the game.

Preston (2-0) at Glenview Park (0-2)
My Pick:  PHS by 28
Undefeated teams.....WCI, FHCI, GRCI, Bluevale and.....Preston?  Yes, the Panthers are for real, and they've gone 2-0 by beating a couple of solid teams in the process.  I'll take them to roll the other Panthers here today.

D10

After Centennial toppling JF Ross on Tuesday, the Centre Wellington Falcons are by themselves in first-place with a 3-0 record.  Here are today's games and picks:

Centre Wellington (3-0) at St. James (0-3)
My Pick:  CWDHS
Things don't get any easier for the Lions, while the Falcons will look to go to 4-0 ---- but with big games looming against Centennial and JF Ross before the Christmas break.

Orangeville (1-2) at Centennial (2-1)
My Pick:  CCVI
The Bears picked up a nice win on Tuesday against GCVI, but I think that's as far as the win streak will go against the Spartans, provided they don't have a "let down game" after taking out Ross the other day.

JF Ross (2-1) at Guelph CVI (0-3)
My Pick:  JFR
Look for the Royals to get back on track with a road win today at the home of the Green Gaels.

Lourdes (2-1) at Bishop Mac (2-1)
My Pick:  OLOL
Always a fierce rivalry between these two "AA" schools - I like for Lourdes to get a close win on the road.
