All good things must come to an end.
Such was the case for the junior Bishop Mac Celtics' 55-game league and playoff win streak in D10 play on Thursday night, as they were nipped at the wire by the visiting Guelph CVI Gaels in a 49-48 final.
Bishop Mac has won the past four D10 junior playoff plaques, but to be fair to the current Celtics, they were going to be hard pressed to offset the loss of the majority of last year's team (including all-CWOSSA performers Jesse Kendall and Ben Morris) to the senior ranks.
Slobodan Glibo had 14 and Spencer Swan 10 in the win for GCVI, while Michael Ganson led all scorers for the Celts with 20; Lucas Wood chipped in with 9 more for BMAC.
Here's a rundown of the rest of the D10 action:
JF Ross 61, Lourdes 47
The Royals move to 2-0 thanks to 22 from Mo Husein and 18 more from Vlad Vamanu in the win. Craig Valeriote had 17 while David Khayipangi and Noel Amaya scored 8 each for Lourdes.
St. James 44, Centennial 19
The Lions even up their record with a win at home against Centennial (1-1). Joey Hasson had 13 in the win to lead St. James.
CWDHS 56, Orangeville 24
The Falcons are a team to keep an eye on this season, and moved to 2-0 with a win over ODSS. Josh McEachern had 12 and Sam Goindi 9 on this night, while ODSS received 14 from Tye Tucker and 4 by Connor Davis.
