D8 Junior: Saints Top Phoenix, Stay Undefeated

The St. Benedict Saints are now the only undefeated team in the D8 junior circuit after they topped the visiting Resurrection Phoenix by a 43-27 score last night.

The game got off to a slow start, with SBCSS slugging their way to a 5-2 lead after one.  The offenses picked up after that, but the size of the Saints was too much for the Phoenix in this one.

The 16-point margin was the closest game that the Saints have had so far in D8 play, having previously defeated St. David (30), Rockway (47), and Monsignor Doyle (38).

Although there's a lot more league games to play, both of these clubs seem like the definitive frontrunners to be playing in the D8 finals in mid-November. 

Wednesday's other game saw the St. Mary's Eagles take out the Rockway Flames on the road.
