WCSSAA Junior: Elmira Stops Rens in Unbeaten Battle

The Elmira Lancers received an 18-point effort from Krista Weins and took out the previously unbeaten Grand River Renegades 38-35 on the road Thursday afternoon.

Forward Leticia Skeete responded with 11 for Grand River, who drop to 4-1.  The Lancers are 4-0, as they still have a previously rescheduled game against Huron Heights to play (October 12th).

Meanwhile, Bluevale and Jacob Hespeler both improved their records to 5-0 to start the season.  Here's a complete rundown of the scores:

Cameron Heights 28, Waterloo CI 25
The Vikes narrowly miss out on their first win of the year at home in a low-scoring affair.  For Cameorn, Cathy Bekhyt again led the way with 12 points while Shama Saleh added in 7.  WCI's scoring was led by Maggie Birch, the lone Vike in double figures with 10.

Bluevale 46, Eastwood 13
No trouble for the Knights as they rout ECI to improve to the aforementioned 5-0 start.  Sarah Hamm had a big day for Bluevale with 17, while Vicki Gunpat chipped in 8.  Lori Stankiewicz had the majority of ECI points (8).

SJAM 30, Forest Heights 14
This score looks to be currently "reversed" on the WCSSAA website (30-14 FHCI).  Jillian Reiter had 14 points for SJAM, while Meagan Meade led the Trojans with 4.

KCI 36, Galt 27
KCI gets a big win to stop their losing streak at 2; again they were backed by a strong performance from Christiana Koebel (16) while Kelsey Dawe and Nikaya Snell chipped in 4 each.  Cass Ramlal (7) and Carissa Grove (6) were tops for GCI.

Jacob Hespeler 46, Preston 30
The Hawks held WCSSAA's leading scorer, Ashley White, in "check" (she still scored 14 points) and the Hawks were able to cruise to the win.  Taylor Dennis and Brooklynn Wright had 12 each for JH.

Southwood 40, Glenview Park 26
The Sabres get the win and sweep the junior-senior doubleheader from Glenview.  Emily Weaver led Southwood with 10, while Jocelyn Kivell had a game-high 12 points for the Panthers.

Waterloo-Oxford 41, Huron Heights 27
The Crusaders continue to roll on Thursday night, with a win over the Huskies.  Maddy Horst had 21 to lead the way for WODSS, while Rebecca Payne added in 7.  Emily Bidinosti had another strong outing for the Huskies, putting in 10 points.
