There was one game to report from yesterday in the D8 Senior league, and it was between the league's two "A" schools.
Woodland toppled Rockway, 43-33, backed by 11 points from Shane Clarke. Connor Huxman had a game-high 18 for the Flames.
The win improved the Cavs to 1-1, while the Flames dropped to 0-2.
The Flames did take the junior side of the twin-bill, knocking off Woodland 50-42, with Matt Kipfer scoring 20 points in the win.
Onto the two games today:
Monsignor Doyle (0-1) at St. Mary's (1-0)
My Pick: SMHS by 43
Tough opening week for Monsignor Doyle, as they get Resurrection and St. Mary's back-to-back. The Eagles will soar to a big victory in their home opener here.
St. Benedict (0-0) at Resurrection (1-0)
My Pick: SBCSS by 4
Interesting first-week game here, between two teams that almost seem on a collision course to meet in the playoff semifinals (we'll see what SDCSS or MDCSS have to say about that, though). I'll stick with my rankings at this point and go with the Saints in a close one.
