Senior: Falcons Soar To RCSS Invitational Title

Fergus Centre Wellington took home the title at the Resurrection Senior Invitational Tournament over the weekend, besting D10 rivals Bishop Macdonell in a 49-48 thriller in the championship game.

Tournament MVP James Scott had the go-ahead basket with just over a minute to go for the Falcons, who held on down the stretch despite going 0-for-3 from the foul line with the Celtics resorting to foul in the waning seconds.

Scott finished with 10 points, while Josh McEachern led CWDHS with 15.  Chris Poloniato had 19, Jake Chaput 13, and Lukas Wood 10 for the Celts.

Resurrection took the third-place game with a 77-54 win over Essex.  The Phoenix had 4 players in double-figures --- Korbil Gany (17), Muyang Iluya (17), Michael Perak (13) and Jordan Kenning (10).  Nick Veigli had a game-high 25 for the Raiders.

Another CWOSSA school, Guelph Lourdes, took the consolation title, 56-47 over Dundas Valley.  Craig Valeriote had 27 and David Khayipangi 21 in the win for the Crusaders.

First-team all-stars were Scott (MVP) and McEachern from CWDHS, Chris Poloniato (BMAC), Korbil Gany (RCSS), Nick Veigli (Essex) and Craig Valeriote from Lourdes.

Second-team all-stars were Muyang Iluya (RCSS), Ty Uhrig (CWDHS), Evan Hosker (BMAC), Nick Leslie (DV) and Logan Sands (London Oakridge).
