The only game of the three senior tilts that was expected to be competitive on Wednesday was exactly that, and ended with the St. David Celtics upsetting the Resurrection Phoenix, 59-56.
With the score 57-54, Rez's Ali Rashid appeared to hit a game-tying three-pointer with :01 on the clock; however, it was ruled as a two-pointer and the Phoenix were forced to foul for the final margin.
Mitchell Lavigne (21) and John McElroy (15) led the way for the Celts, while Korbil Gany (14), Muyang Iluya (10) and Zach Holness (10) topped the Rez scoring.
The other two games went as expected.
St. Mary's demolished Rockway 89-16, with Henoak Abara netting 27 points in the win. Connor Huxman had 9 for the Flames.
Omar Comanto had 12 to lead St. Benedict in a 65-19 win over Woodland. Tristan Vanderhoef had 4 to lead the Cavs.
Junior
Brent Lasovich poured in 18 points as the St. David Celtics remained perfect in league play with a 49-39 win over Resurrection, who were without their top performer from Monday's game against St. Mary's, Jaxon Matcheski. Jamu Iluya led the way for the Phoenix with 14.
In other action, St. Mary's routed Rockway 70-23, backed by 23 points from Jason Jaros. Matt Kipfer had 8 for the Flames.
St. Benedict posted a 63-27 win over Woodland, with Gavin Douglas leading the way for the Saints (10). Frank Xu had 7 for the Cavaliers.
Meanwhile, the league's leading scorer, PRDG's Pat Martini, improved his scoring average to 24.8 PPG after pouring in 36 points during their win over Monsignor Doyle, 52-44. Bryan Avila had 19 for the 'Stangs.
