Junior: SJAM "CWOSSA Hoopla" Tournament This Weekend

The annual "SJAM CWOSSA Hoopla" tournament, co-hosted with Forest Heights CI, is this weekend in Kitchener-Waterloo.

The tournament has a tremendous reputation of being a predictor of future success.  In fact, many of the previous champions went on to either win their league or CWOSSA:

2006 - Centennial
2007 - SJAM
2008 - Resurrection (D8 & CWOSSA Champs)
2009 - Forest Hts. (WCSSAA #1 Seed)
2010 - St. Mary's (D8 Champs, CWOSSA Silver)
2011 - Grand River (WCSSAA Champs)
2012 - Cameron Hts. (Dispute Year)
2013 - St. Benedict (#2 CWOSSA Ranking)

This year's event is again a 16-team affair, although St. Mary's has pulled out due to a league game against PRDG (could they not reschedule?!) so it is disappointing that we will not see Eagles (one of my projected CWOSSA top-ten teams) in this one.

Not sure if the organizers have been able to find a replacement team, so I've put "TBD" in the draw where St. Mary's was.

Update: I've been advised that a replacement has not been found, so FHCI will be splitting their team into two.

The bracket is a "winner vs. loser" OFSAA format, so keep that in mind.  Here's the first-round:

SJAM Bracket
9am - SJAM vs. St. Benedict
10:30am - Preston vs. Assumption

Noon - Grand River vs. Resurrection
1:30pm - Glenview Park vs. St. John's

Forest Hts. Bracket
9am - FHCI "A" vs. North Park
10:30am - Cameron Hts. vs. CWDHS

Noon - Bluevale vs. St. David
1:30pm - Brantford CI vs. FHCI "B"

Early returns would favour the SJAM Highlanders, Grand  River Renegades, and St. John's Green Eagles as the teams to watch in the SJAM bracket, while North Park, Cameron Heights, and Bluevale appear to be the top teams in the FHCI bracket.

Games continue throughout the day on Saturday, with the championship final at 8pm (at SJAM).
