YTD: 18-2 (.900)
Some people out there might have been hoping for a bit of a premature visit from the (projected) winter snowstorm and a "snow day" today.
I, however, was not.
Today's WCSSAA schedule is absolutely awesome --- quite possibly the best single-day schedule in the 5 years that I've been doing the blog. There are 4 games that feature "top 20" teams matched up against each other, while 2 games feature teams both ranked in my top 5.
All of these games are set to go for 3:15pm:
Cameron Heights (3-0) at SJAM (3-0)
My Pick: SJAM by 3
Unfortunately, we won't get to see these teams at full strength, SJAM will be without F Brett Parrot for this one, while Ivan Cucak will be out of this one as well for CHCI with his ankle. We'll see who steps up in their absence, but in the meantime it almost makes this a random "coin flip" pick so I'll go with the home squad here.
Grand River (3-0) at Eastwood (2-0)
My Pick: GRCI by 12
The Rens are playing arguably the best basketball in CWOSSA right now, having notched 80+ points in their three league games to this point. I'll take them here, although you never know what can happen in a rivalry game such as this.
Forest Heights (2-1) at WCI (3-0)
My Pick: WCI by 9
Both of these teams will be looking for a key resume-building win. As clubs expected to finish in the "upper tier" of the standings, this one might be important to have in the "win column" come February. I'll go with the Vikes at home, but should be a good game.
Galt (1-2) at KCI (1-2)
My Pick: KCI by 4
Don't be fooled by these records, as these teams have had tough schedules to open the season. I can see this game going any number of ways, but I'll pick the home-court Raiders.
Jacob Hespeler (0-3) at Preston (0-3)
My Pick: PHS by 8
One of these Cambridge schools will get their first win here; I'll go with the Panthers to do so.
Bluevale (0-3) at Elmira (0-2)
My Pick: BCI by 21
Could be a long year for the rebuilding Lancers; the Knights should get the win here on the road.
