Brantford: Trojans End Green Eagles' D5 Win Streak

It had to end at some point.

After going undefeated for the past couple of years within the D5 league, the St. John's Green Eagles were defeated by the North Park Trojans 45-40 last night in Brantford.

Cassie Fletcher contributed 12 points for NPC, while Laura Chapple and Allyson DeLorenzi each had 9.  St. John's received 9 from Shawni Hnatiuk and 8 from Megan Piette.

This result, coupled with North Park's earlier regular season loss to Assumption, means that Assumption now hold sole possession of first place at 3-0 in the D5.  The Lions routed Paris DHS 39-8, backed by 8 points from Hayley Rathwell.

The other senior showdown in Brant County saw Brantford CI defeat Pauline Johnson 49-34.  According to the Brantford Expositor, the 'Stangs were shorthanded and had to call up a couple of junior players to help out.  Summer Sakaluk, a grade 9 junior, actually scored 14 points in the win.
