WCSSAA Results: Thursday, September 22

You know, I should really listen to myself a bit more when I'm doing my picks column.

I struggled to a mediocre 4-3 record, but it very easily could have been 7-0 (or at least, say, 5-2 or 6-1) if I had taken some of my advice to heart.  Reference:

Bluevale at KCI:  "(I) wouldn't be surprised to see the up-and-coming Knights pull out an upset here."

FHCI at Southwood:  "The Sabres will need to handle Blair McNaughton in order to pick up the "W"

Eastwood at Elmira:  "This game could be closer than you think."

Anyways, the Knights and Trojans pulled out 4 and 6 point road wins, respectively, while the Lancers took a 57-49 home win as detailed in the post below.

Here's a recap, starting with the senior league:

Bluevale 31, KCI 27
My Pick:  KCI
A defensive struggle on King St. goes to the (now) 2-0 Knights.  Tessa Dent (8) and Shannon Curran (7) led the way for Bluevale, while Chloe Graves had 9 and Olivia Nelles 5 for KCI.

WCI 56, Huron Heights 20
My Pick:  WCI
No trouble for the Vikes as they take out the Huskies on the road.  Lindsay Taylor (14) and Lindsay Lessard (10) had the notable WCI efforts, while Megan Parsons and Melissa Whigman had 6 each for Huron.

Preston 48, SJAM 15
My Pick:  PHS
The Panthers took out their frustrations from the Eastwood loss out on SJAM, backed by 12 from Kirsten Leach and 7 from Nikea Worrell.  Emily Temple had 6 for the 'Landers.

Cameron Heights 46, Galt 30
My Pick:  CHCI
Liz McLellan went for 20 in this one as the Gaels go 2-0 against Cambridge schools to start the year.  Ashanti Lewis had 11 more for CHCI, while GCI received 10 from Milica Stevanovic and 5 from Rachel Rivers.

Forest Heights 44, Southwood 38
My Pick:  SSS
The Sabres had difficulty containing Blair McNaughton, who went off for 22 in this one to lead FHCI to the win.  Sarah Potter was another Trojan in double-figures with 10, while Kayleigh Hutt-Taylor (10) and Courtney Harley (8) were tops for SSS.

Grand River 41, Glenview Park 30
My Pick:  GRCI
The Rens get in the win column with a road win at Glenview.  Kailey DeBoer poured in 17, and Candice Scott added 9 for the winners; GPSS received a 14-point performance from Emily McLean and 8 more from Alyssa Goodridge.

Elmira 57, Eastwood 49
My Pick:  ECI
