We have our first "full slate" of games in the D8 league today, with all 6 teams in action. The St. Benedict Saints, who many feel could be an upstart team this year with a strong crop of junior talent moving up, will make their regular season debut tonight as well.
Here are today's games:
St. David (1-0) at Resurrection (0-1)
My Pick: RCSS
The past few years have provided some good games between these two opponents, perhaps none more exciting than a rare neutral-site playoff game last year that went to OT (with the Phoenix prevailing by 5). Though many of the faces have changed over the past year, I still expect a good game here. Rez by single-digits is my pick.
St. Mary's (2-0) at Monsignor Doyle (1-0)
My Pick: SMHS
The Eagles won their first two games by an average of 30 points. And that was against two teams expected to challenge for 2nd place (SDCSS & RCSS). Look for a similar scoreline again here.
Rockway (0-2) at St. Benedict (0-0)
My Pick: SBCSS
Look for the Saints to get off to a good start in the 2011 D8 league, especially playing in the familiar confines of their home gym.
