Senior
Well, I won't be going perfect in the D8 league picks.
That's thanks in part to the Monsignor Doyle Mustangs, who got a leg-up on the race for that AAA berth by defeating the St. David Celtics in a low-scoring affair, 19-13.
Also, the St. Mary's Eagles may have found themselves some competition in the D8 league, as the St. Benedict Saints stayed close and only succumbed by a 43-38 final.
Here's the rundown & standings:
St. Mary's 43, St. Benedict 38
My Pick: SMHS
At this point, it appears that both of these teams are the strong favourites to appear in the finals. The Eagles get the edge with the win on Wednesday; Kaitlyn Schenck poured in 28 points to pace SMHS. For SBCSS, Dana Milani had 15 and Alisa Tkaczyk netted 11.
Monsignor Doyle 19, St. David 13
My Pick: SDCSS
The 'Stangs picked up a crucial win in the fight for the final playoff spot (and likely the AAA CWOSSA berth that will go along with it). Marley Gray had 5 in the win for Doyle, while St. David received 5 from Nicole Jamison and 4 from Kayleigh Bell.
D8 Senior Standings
1. St. Mary's 4-0
2. Monsignor Doyle 2-1

T3. Resurrection 1-1
-----

Junior
St. Mary's 40, St. Benedict 15
A bit of an eye-opening scoreline here, as the Eagles get a massive win on Wednesday. Scoring details were not available from source.
St. David 44, Monsignor Doyle 17
After getting upended by Rez on Monday, the Celtics regained their winning form with a comfortable win over Doyle. Heather Sandall contributed 14 in the win, while Bernie Leland, Lindsay Geffros and Cassie Duffhues had 6 more each for St. David. Taylor Fitzpatrick again led MDCSS with 5.
D8 Junior Standings
