WCSSAA Senior: Top Teams Continue To Roll

The top clubs in the WCSSAA senior circuit continued their winning ways on Thursday afternoon.  The WCI Vikings, KCI Raiders, Eastwood Rebels and Cameron Heights Golden Gaels and the Bluevale Knights all improved to 3-0.

That said, look for some "shake up" in the standings next week as we see four games between the aforementioned clubs:  Cameron Heights at Eastwood (Tuesday), Bluevale at WCI (Tuesday), Cameron Heights at WCI (Thursday) and Eastwood at Bluevale (Thursday).

Here's a look back on yesterday's results.  Note that SJAM got the "bye win" against HHHS.

Waterloo-Oxford 37, Forest Heights 35
My Pick:  WODSS

The Crusaders nip the Trojans despite 18 points from Blair McNaughton in a losing effort --- in the process, they improve to 1-2 while keeping FHCI out of the win column.

Galt 46, Elmira 39
My Pick:  EDSS
The Galt Ghosts are quickly becoming my arch-nemesis.  All 3 of my "incorrect selections" so far have involved GCI.  After losing to Southwood on Tuesday, Galt rebounds with a solid road win at Elmira.  Liz Phillips (19) had a huge game in the win, with Milica Stevanovic adding in 11 as well.  Katie Martin (11), Amy Hachman (8) and Jessica Reichard (6) were the high scorers for EDSS --- so looks like the Ghosts held Lydia Frey in check.

WCI 65, Glenview Park 27
My Pick:  WCI

Another day, another win for the Vikes who improve to 3-0 and continue to extend their regular season win streak.  As usual, any Vike can lead them in scoring and on this night it was Julia Pavlik with 16.  Alyssa Shortt chipped in 12 points, while Alyssa Goodridge had double digits (10) for GPSS.

Eastwood 35, Jacob Hespeler 24
My Pick:  ECI

I said that the Hespeler Hawks had to keep this one low-scoring to have a chance, and they did; however, the Rebels were still too much at home.  Michelle Hudyn poured in 20 points for ECI, with Jamie Cote adding in 5.  Sarah Guttin was the high-scorer for JHSS with 8.

KCI 54, Grand River 34
My Pick:  KCI

The Raiders continue to put up some points, this time taking care of GRCI at home.  Raiders' coach Nick White noted that his squad is now finally getting back to full strength, so keep an eye out for them going forward.  Kate McTavish poured in 23 big points in the win on this night, with Barbara Robertson adding in 9.  Aileen MacLellan (13) and Kailey DeBoer (10) were tops for Grand River and had to do a lot of work ---- the Rens had only 6 available players.

Bluevale 40, Preston 27
My Pick:  BCI

The Knights pick up another win, thanks to their balanced scoring attack.  Shannon Curran (9), Andrea Bartlett (8) and Donna Cloes (8) led the way here.  Kirsten Leach had a game-high 13 points for Preston.

Cameron Heights 59, Southwood 34
My Pick:  CHCI

The Gaels pound SSS at home and improve to 3-0 with a couple of big contests upcoming next week.  Liz McLellan (19) and Siki Jez (17) were the Gaels' top performers, while Kelly Johnston (13) and Alex Palvetzian (7) were tops for Southwood.
