D10 Semifinal Games - Thursday

The Senior Centennial Spartans and JF Ross Royals will be looking to make it two straight upsets as D10 playoff action continues this afternoon.

Both teams picked a prime time to up their game, and one of them will be rewarded with a trip to AAAA CWOSSA (Centennial will get the berth unless JF Ross beats St. James tonight).

Today, Centennial (#5 seed) will take on Bishop Mac (#2), while 6th-seeded JF Ross battles #1 St. James.

Both games could certainly be a bit more interesting that the seeding would suggest.  After an early-season rout by Bishop Mac (in which Centennial was playing shorthanded), the Spartans fell to the Celtics by only 4 in their previous encounter.

JF Ross, despite being a #6 seed, actually played reasonably well against the #1 St. James Lions this season, losing by 12 and 16 points.  You also have to figure that their confidence is pretty high after dismantling #3 Lourdes by a 57-45 score the other evening.

That said, I'll play it safe with my picks today and go with the Lions by 11 and Bishop Mac by 8.

Over on the junior side, it'll be #1 Lourdes hosting #5 Centennial, and #2 Bishop Mac playing host to the #3 JF Ross Royals.  Look for the Crusaders to cruise through to the final, and for the JF Ross - Bishop Mac game to be one that could possibly come down to the wire.

On the junior side, I'll go with Lourdes by 19 and Bishop Mac by 7.
