D10 Thursday: Playoff Seeds Confirmed After Final Day

The playoffs are set to go for next week in the D10 league, after Thursday's final day of regular season action.

It was a pretty good day for me in the picks department, going 4-0 to bring my D10 record back to right around 80% for the season (42-11).  Bishop Mac (off by 1) and JF Ross (correct margin) were my best selections on the day.

We'll start with the Celtics, who locked down 2nd place in the standings with a hard-fought 41-36 road win at Lourdes.  Jessica Morris paced BMAC with a 13-point effort, while Monica Trimble had a game-high 16 and Charlotte Case 13 more for the Crusaders.  Lourdes will finish in 3rd place in the standings.

The JF Ross Royals locked down the #6 seed by defeating the Centre Wellington Falcons (who finish 7th), 37-26.  Teddi Taran had 18 points for the winners, with Candice Geisel adding 8.  Maddie Fennell and Kristen Gora each had 10 for CW.

The other games went as expected as Guelph CVI downed Orangeville 53-17, and St. James locked up first place by taking out Centennial 44-27.

For GCVI, Sydney Wilson had a D10 Thursday high of 27 points, while Ijeoma Staunton added 10.  Jessica Gut led the Bears with 7.

Chelsey Gazzola (11) and Nastassja Herriot (7) paced a balanced St. James attack in their win.  Emma Korol was tops for the Spartans with 10.

That means your final standings are:
1.  St. James 12-2
2.  Bishop Mac 12-2
3.  Lourdes 10-4
4.  Guelph CVI 9-5
5.  Centennial 6-8
6.  JF Ross 4-10
7.  CWDHS 3-11
8.  Orangeville 0-4

And your QF games will be (next Tuesday):
(1) St. James vs. (8) Orangeville
(2) Bishop Mac vs. (7) CWDHS
(3) Lourdes vs. (6) JF Ross
(4) GCVI vs. (5) Centennial

Junior D10
On the junior side of the D10 league, Lourdes locked down the top spot in the standings by winning a battle of 1-loss teams, 40-33.  Brin Krueger had 12 and Lauren Brombal 9 for the 'Saders, while Dianne Priamo and Sadie Scapinello netted 8 each for Bishop Mac.

JF Ross capped their 11-3 season with a 52-21 win over CWDHS.  Mya Leacock and Ana Vurkovic scored 10 each for the Royals, with Jodi Richards leading the way for the Falcons with 6.

Centennial posted a 39-25 win over St. James, thanks to a trio of 8-point performers (Carter Godman, Lauren Zonneveld, and Megan Paddock).  Kate Glaab had 7 for the Lions.

Guelph CVI cruised to a 39-24 win over Orangeville in a finale where both teams were essentially already locked into their playoff positions.  Abby MacIntyre (GCVI) was the game's high scorer with 12.

Your final junior standings:
1.  Lourdes 13-1
2.  Bishop Mac 12-2
3.  JF Ross 11-3
4.  Guelph CVI 8-6
5.  Centennial 6-8
6.  St. James 4-10
7.  Orangeville 1-13
8.  CWDHS 1-3
