AAA CWOSSA: Higher-Ranked Teams Advance Through to Semifinals

At the "AAA" CWOSSA tournament down in Brantford, the top-seeded teams (1 through 4) advanced through to Monday's semifinals in both the junior and senior ranks.  Here's a look at the scores:

Junior

(1) St. James 65, (8) Centre Dufferin 24

Ryan Willock had 13 to pace St. James to a comfortable first round win.  Silas Sales had 15 for CDDHS.

(2) St. David 46, (7) Preston 41

The Celtics dodge a bullet from a scrappy and hard-working Preston team, in a game that went down to the wire.  George Dumitru had 15 for SDCSS while Tyler Gibner had 18 for Preston.

(3) North Park 69, (6) Huron Heights 64 - 2OT

The NPC Trojans, on their home court, got all they could handle from the Huron Heights Huskies and had to rally from an 11-point fourth quarter deficit to force OT, and another OT was still needed to settle it!  AK Rai paced NPC with 26 points, while Ahmed Radi had 13 for Huron.

(4) Galt 61, (5) Brantford CI 32

The 4-5 matchup didn't live up to the seeding as the Ghosts played great basketball to pull away in this one.  Lazar Stevanovic (22) paced Galt while Tristan Almas had 8 for BCI.

Monday Semifinals - at NPC

(1) St. James vs. (4) Galt - 10am

(2) St. David vs. (3) North Park - 11:30am

Senior

(1) Centre Dufferin 72, (8) St. David 44

Carlo Zanette poured in 26 points as the top-seeded Royals moved to the senior AAA semifinals.  Phil Ciomplick had 14 for the Celtics.

(2) North Park 48, (7) St. James 26

The Trojans rolled over St. James in a rematch of last year's championship game.  Logan Varga had 15 to pace NPC, while Zach McClenaghan had 12 for the Lions.

(3) Jacob Hespeler 53, (6) Holy Trinity 25

The Hawks dominated the Titans in the second half, outscoring them 41-9.  Holy Trinity actually led 16-12 at halftime.  Top scorers were unavailable.

(4) Galt 61, (5) Huron Heights 56

Sean Samuel went off for 28 points but the Ghosts were still able to pull out the win.  Owais Khairi had 20 for the Ghosts.
