WCSSAA Semifinal Saturday: Picks

Don't have too much time here, as I have a few errands to run before making my way over to Preston HS for this afternoon's festivities.

As always, you can follow me on twitter (@cwossabball) for updates from the action.

Here's an "abbreviated version" of my picks:

Junior

(1) WCI vs. (5) Eastwood
The Vikes took the regular season game while 6, though ECI did beat WCI in their home tournament (I believe WCI was missing 1 starter, though).  At any rate, it should be a fairly intense game with two very contrasting styles of play.

I think the Rebs may keep it close but WCI is too balanced.  Vikes by 8.

(2) Grand River vs. (3) Cameron Heights
This is the 3:30pm start, and by all indications, it should be a great game.  Jamal Murray hit a buzzer-beater three in their regular season encounter to win that one ---- will Murray and the Rens again come up big or will the Gaels get their revenge?  GRCI has had CHCI's number in the playoffs lately so I'll tip my cap to the Rens for a 5-point win.

Senior

(1) Forest Heights vs. (5) Jacob Hespeler
The guard-play of the Trojans will just be too much for the Hawks to handle, especially as the game progresses.  I expect Jason Quiring to get his, but the M&M's (Miller & Masters) will help lead FHCI to victory.  FHCI by 15.

(2) WCI vs. (6) SJAM
A one-point thriller in their regular season affair, factor in the "Waterloo rivalry" and this might be the one that everyone is looking forward to the most (6:30pm, PHS).  The 'Landers are hot right now, and I see this one going down to the wire.  WCI by 5.
