JF Ross Seniors, Bishop Mac Juniors Take D10 Titles

The JF Ross seniors and the Bishop Mac juniors both capped undefeated seasons in D10 play by capturing their respective championship games at the University of Guelph this evening.

The junior affair saw the Celts win their 54th consecutive D10 league or playoff game with a hard-fought 58-51 win over the JF Ross Royals.  Jesse Kendall (13) and Ben Morris (12) topped the Celtic scoring, while Ross big men Nolan Ireland (19) and Kristian Vande Kemp (18) had solid days against an undersized Bishop Mac front line.

The senior game saw Ross control things against Centennial and pull away for a 65-45 win.  Mike Friesen had 16 and Shamlo Saeed 14 for the winners, while Serge Khayipangi had a game-high 22 for CCVI in the loss.

Today's senior result also helps to sort out the pool situation for next week's CWOSSA "AAAA" championships.

Pool "A" --- to be hosted by Resurrection CSS --- will feature the D8 champion Phoenix, the winner of the WCSSAA championship game (SJAM/CHCI) and the D10 2nd place finisher, the Centennial Spartans.

Pool "B" --- to be hosted by St. Mary's HS in Kitchener --- will feature the JF Ross Royals, the loser of the WCSSAA championship game, as well as Brantford St. John's.

More details to follow.
