D10 Thursday: Senior Celtics Clinch One Of Top Two Seeds

In yesterday's D10 play, the Bishop Macdonell Celtics ensured themselves of finishing no worse than 2nd overall in the standings by defeating the JF Ross Royals, 53-39.

The win means that Bishop Mac (10-1) is now three games clear of third place teams Ross (7-4) and Guelph CVI (7-4), with three games to play.  The Celts also own tiebreakers over both teams, having defeated them twice during league games.

Favoured teams were victorious in the rest of Thursday's senior action.

St. James was tested on the road at CWDHS, but pulled out a 40-34 victory.  Donna Zen (12) and Kelsey Widdrington (10) had double-digit efforts for the Lions, while Maddie Fennell and Nikki Sinkner scored 8 each for the Falcons.

Centennial moved to 9-2 with a 51-42 road win at Lourdes.  Carter Godman (13) and Emma Cain (10) were the CCVI high scorers, while Aida Raab knocked home 17 points for the Crusaders with Rainey Psenicka adding 10.

The other game was never in doubt as the GCVI Gaels dumped the Orangeville Bears by a 77-17 final.  Scoring details weren't immediately available.
