Unfortunately, didn't get a chance to make picks for yesterday's games, which likely would have improved my record depending on the outcome of the MDCSS-RMC game, which has not yet been reported.
Here's the rundown of the other two senior games, with the Record's Mark Bryson having a detailed recap of the SDCSS-SBCSS game (scroll down for that):
St. Benedict 31, St. David 13
These clubs played a 4-point game earlier, but St. Benedict pulled away in this one. Kayla Leusink had 11 for the victors, while Bobbi-Sue Hentges led St. David with 5.
Resurrection 37, Woodland 19
Without Julianna Thomson (injury), one of the top players in the D8 circuit, the Cavs couldn't keep it as close as the first time around against Resurrection. CC McGlynn (9) and Patricia Enriques (8) led the way for Rez, while Kirstin Hofstee had 8 for Woodland.
Note: At the mid-point of the season, the standings have split into "A" and "B" divisions, where teams will play a round-robin against those teams for the remainder of the regular schedule.
Senior - "A"
1. St. Benedict 7-0
2. Resurrection 6-1
3. St. David 4-3
4. Woodland 3-4
Senior - "B"
1. Mons. Doyle 2-4
2. St. Mary's 1-5
3. Rockway 0-6
Junior
There were no surprises on Wednesday in the D8 junior league.
The undefeated Resurrection Phoenix continued their winning ways with a 49-8 victory over Woodland. Genevieve Belford and Alyssa Mikuljan each netted 8 for the Phoenix, while Kaitlyn DeWeerd and Gabby Adam scored 4 each to account for Woodland's points.
The win also (officially) clinched a playoff berth for the Phoenix in the 6-team junior circuit.
Summer Pahl continued her strong season with a 15-point effort in St. Mary's 35-22 win over St. David. Rachel Sothern had 8 to lead the Celts.
St. Benedict received 14 points from Nana-Afia Agyeipah as they toppled Rockway, 34-21. Dani Morrison led the way for the Flames with 8.
