D8 Wednesday: Saints Stay Perfect, Eagles Upend Mustangs

A couple games on both the junior and senior sides of the District 8 league, with one more game today (I'll go with St. David over Woodland by 12 in that one).

In senior action yesterday, St. Benedict stayed perfect, moving to 8-0 following a 43-22 win over Woodland Christian.  Afifa Salaad (11) and Kayla Leusink (10) contributed double-digit efforts in the victory.

Meanwhile, the other game was a "B Division" matchup down in Cambridge, where the St. Mary's Eagles picked up their second win of the season by knocking off the Monsignor Doyle Mustangs 32-28.  Scoring details were not available.

Senior Standings - "A"
1.  St. Benedict 8-0
2.  Resurrection 6-1
3.  St. David 4-3
4.  Woodland 3-5

Senior Standings - "B"
1.  Mons. Doyle 3-5
2.  St. Mary's 2-5
3.  Rockway 0-7

Playoff Note:  All four "A" teams will clinch a playoff berth.  First round playoff games will have "A3" vs. "B2> 

Junior
The CWOSSA #1-ranked Resurrection Phoenix continued to be the class of the D8 junior field, taking out CWOSSA #10-ranked St. Mary's by a 56-31 final score on Wednesday.

Krissia Vasquez netted 17 for the Phoenix, while Summer Pahl had 14 to pace the Eagles.


The other game on Wednesday saw St. Benedict knock off Woodland, 35-12.  Nana-Afia Agyeipah had 10 for the Saints in the win, while Jasmine DeWeerd put home 4 for the Cavs.
