WCSSAA Junior: Waterloo-Oxford Upends Galt To Move Into 3rd

The Waterloo-Oxford Crusaders picked up their 5th win in 6 games, defeating the (5-2) Galt Ghosts by a 62-36 score yesterday afternoon in Baden.

Emily Glendinning had 23 points to pace the way for WO, while Rachael Beitz added 11.

Beth Fleming (9) and Erin Woeller (8) were the high scorers for the Ghosts.

The win moved the Crusaders into sole possession of 3rd place in the WCSSAA standings, behind SJAM and Jacob Hespeler, who both remained unbeaten on Tuesday.

The Hawks had a bit of rust against Eastwood --- especially on the offensive end --- but shook it off in time to come away with a 24-13 road win.  Maddy Adams had 10 points for Jacob Hespeler, while Danielle Gardiner led the way for ECI with 6.

SJAM dropped Bluevale by a 52-14 count, led by 14 points from Joanna Bamberger and 12 by Griffin Lack-Shane.  Avery Webster and Jasmine Lambert had 4 apiece for the Knights.

In other action on Tuesday:

Grand River 37, KCI 26
The Rens kept the Raiders winless on the season, thanks in part to a strong effort from Jenna Crawford (18 points).  Kam Singh added 6 for the Rens, while Simone Clarke was strong in defeat for KCI with 16.

Preston 27, Huron Hts. 23
A big win for Preston on the road as they got past Huron.  Blaire Raftis (13) and Maggie McKenzie (6) were the top Panther performers; Jamila Beckford had 7 to lead the way for the Huskies.

Glenview Park 44, WCI 35
An upset here as the 1-6 Panthers knocked off the 4-2 Vikings, although WCI was without Victoria Giguere for this one.  Chuchu Oyual (17) and Darcy Simmons (14) led the way for Glenview, with Ramla Abdalla (15) and Emma Cheeseman (10) being the top Viking scorers.

Elmira 35, Forest Hts. 15
The Lancers quietly moved to 6-2 by taking out Forest Heights.  Maddie McLean led Elmira with 10 points, while Morgan Berg also notched 10 for the Trojans.
