There were 3 games, including two important "A Division" meetings yesterday in D8 Senior Girls' basketball.
The biggest game of the day saw the St. Benedict Saints bounce back from their loss against Resurrection on Monday to defeat St. David, 37-33. Afifa Salaad knocked home 12 points for the Saints, with Julia Mascarenhas adding 8. Megan Goar replied with 12 for the Celts.
That win, combined with Resurrection's win over Woodland, ensured that the Saints and Phoenix locked down the top two spots in the senior circuit.
Rez's win was a 50-31 victory over the Cavs, backed by a second consecutive 20+ effort from Celia McGlynn, who followed up her 22-point effort on Monday with 20 on Wednesday. Natasha Mota added 8 for the Phoenix, while Emily Bax had 16 for the Cavs.
The other game on Wednesday saw Monsignor Doyle handle Rockway by a 56-23 score.
D8 Senior play will resume tomorrow with a rare Friday afternoon league game between Resurrection (8-1) and St. David (5-4).

Junior Girls
Over on the junior side, the St. Benedict Saints and St. David Celtics also played a 4-point game, but it was the Celtics that were victorious in that one by a 30-26 final.
Emily White (10) and Rachel Sothern (7) led the way for St. David, while Nana Afia-Agyeipah had 11 to lead the Saints.
The win means that both the Saints and Celtics now have 5-4 records --- both with one game remaining against the league's two strongest teams, St. Mary's and Resurrection. Barring a significant upset, the two teams will finish tied in the league standings but it will be the Saints who would then be awarded 3rd place based upon a +1 point differential during the games that they split during the year (+5 Saints win, -4 Saints loss).
The other game on Wednesday had St. Mary's over Woodland 48-8, with Summer Pahl (18) and Julia Kulczynska (10) providing double-digit efforts. Jasmine DeWeerd had 6 for the Cavs.
