Though they started slowly in the opening minutes, the Waterloo Bluevale Knights used a 23-2 first-half run to get some breathing room en route to a 57-49 victory over the Brantford North Park Trojans on Thursday afternoon at Bluevale.
The Knights trailed 11-4 early, and were down 11-7 after one. The second frame was all Bluevale --- they outscored NPC 20-2 to take control of the game at halftime by a 27-13 count.
The third quarter was a relatively high-scoring back-and-forth frame, with the Knights extending to a 44-29 advantage. The Trojans would trim that deficit slightly in the 4th to end up losing by 9.
As it was an exhibition contest, all players from both sides did see some court time.
Stefan Cvrkalj had a tremendous outing for Bluevale, scoring a season-high 32 points in the win. Perrin Smith added 8 more for BCI, while North Park received 13 from Tyler Johnston and 11 from star guard Cale McDonald.
