The Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne captured their first ever CWOSSA boys' basketball championship in school history by defeating the Jacob Hespeler Hawks of Cambridge 47-30 in yesterday's AAA final at Preston HS.
The #3 seeded Hawks had also never won a boys' CWOSSA title so we were guaranteed a first-time champ in this one.
Marco Zanette (whose brother, Carlo, is also a key contributor on the team) poured in 23 points in the victory while Doug Costanzo added 9 points.
James Roberts had 12 for the Hawks; Jason Quiring added 5 points.
Things look good for both these programs heading into the future --- and keep an eye out for those above names in the senior ranks.
