Senior D8 Semifinal: Phoenix Beat Celts Handily to Set up Showdown with Mary's

D8 Senior Semifinal: Resurrection 56, St. David 30

Rez took charge in this one from the opening tip. They raced to a 20-5 lead after one quarter (thanks in large part to grade 11 guard Tyler Schneider, who tallied 11 points in the quarter).

The Celts continued to run their flex offense to limited success as stifling defense on Dan Hummel limited the Celtic star to only four points in the first half. Tyson Lavigne, meanwhile, faced tight pressure from the Rez forwards and was held off the scoresheet altogether.

Resurrection substituted liberally in the 2nd quarter with the lead at 20, but key reserves still kept cashing in buckets and the Phoenix went to the break with a 32-11 halftime edge.

In the second half, Resurrection maintained their lead. Lavigne managed 11 second half points to keep the Celts moving forward but the depth of the Phoenix and their ability to hold Hummel in check (2 points in the second half) was too much for St. David in the end.
