No "junior-senior" doubleheaders at any schools tomorrow so these are also 3:30pm starts......
#12 Galt (3-9) at #5 Southwood (8-4)
Regular Season Meeting: Southwood 43, Galt 18
An all-Cambridge battle in this one. If the Ghosts need any motivation, they can perhaps take it from good ol' Facebook. There's an event I came across for KCI's Quarterfinal game on Thursday "against #5 Southwood". Yes, the Sabres are overwhelming favourites here, but they still have to win the game and in a one game situation, you never know.
For the Ghosts to have a chance, they'll have to score some points. They've been one of (if not the worst) offensive team in WCSSAA this season, scoring in the 20s a couple of times and 18 the last time they played Southwood.
The winner will also earn a CWOSSA "AAA" berth.
Pick: Southwood (by 24).
#11 Elmira (4-8) at #6 Cameron Heights (8-4)
Regular Season Meeting: Did Not Play
I like the Gaels here, but Elmira's wins haven't come against basement dwellers. They've beaten three playoff teams --- #8 Preston, #9 Grand River, and #12 Galt.
Stefan Arezina and the Gaels have the edge at home, but they definitely can't be caught looking ahead here.
Pick: Cameron Heights (by 18).
#10 WODSS (4-8) at #7 Forest Heights (7-5)
Regular Season Meeting: Forest Heights 77, WODSS 39
The youthful Crusaders will get a taste of the playoff experience here, and hopefully build on it next year. I don't think they quite have what it takes to take out the Trojans, but like I said above --- it's one game so we'll see what happens.
Pick: Forest Heights (by 25).
#9 Grand River (5-7) at #8 Preston (7-5)
Regular Season Meeting: Grand River 63, Preston 60
The only game where I think the lower seed has a chance of advancing ---- and you'd naturally expect a toss-up in the 8 vs 9 game. Although GRCI won the meeting in league play, the Panthers have been coming on since December. I look for Jeff Robinson to have another big game (26 last time against the Rens) and the Panthers to advance to the quarters.
Pick: Preston (by 6).
Galt is in even more trouble I heaard their best scorer Nic Bradford is out.
