The St. John's College Eagles got a little help from their friends yesterday and were able to qualify for the CWOSSA "AAAA" championships without playing a game.
The Eagles were the beneficiary of Paris DHS' 35-30 victory over Assumption. That leaves St. John's as the only remaining AAAA school in the playoffs (and makes them the "highest playoff finisher").
Casey Ransahai (10), Travis Taylor (8) and Taylor Shipp (7) led a balanced Panther attack; Paris was able to withstand Zolton Bama's 22 point barrage for ACS.
The other junior quarterfinal saw Brantford CI defeat Pauline Johnson in convincing fashion (48-23). Mackenzie Mark led BCI with 10, while Ryan Jamula chipped in 9 points. PJ's Zack Benin had 7 points to lead the Thunderbirds.
Thursday's Semfinal Action will see:
Paris DHS @ St. John's, 5:30pm
Brantford CI @ North Park, 6:00pm

Interesting. Jake Kelley with 25 (Paris), Josh Johnson with 24 (Holy Trinity) were the starting guards for the Norfolk Nets Major Midget Silver Medal Winners at the OBA's last May.
