(5) Southwood 60, (12) Galt 47
My Pick Was: SSS by 24
The Sabres advance and qualify for AAA CWOSSA. Brian Doran put in 26 points for the Sabres, while Mark Stotesbury added 13. Tyler Audet had 13 for GCI.
(6) Cameron Hts 59, (11) Elmira 52
My Pick Was: CHCI by 18
A bit tighter than the Gaels might have liked here. As per Mark Bryson's Record article, Elmira was actually up 6 with about 4:00 left but the Gaels closed on a 14-1 run to earn the "W". Eric Alderice (my co-WCSSAA player of the week last week) had 16 points to pace EDSS. Nebojsa Djeric had 20 points for CHCI, while Stefan Arezina added 18.
(7) Forest Heights 74, (10) WODSS 34
My Pick Was: FHCI by 25
The Trojans give a rude playoff welcome to the WODSS Crusaders by burying them at home. Taylor McNaughton (25) and Srdjan Stanivuk (22) led the way today. Andy Timmel and Kyle Weber had 7 each for the Crusaders.
(8) Preston 81, (9) Grand River 75
My Pick Was: PHS by 6
The Panthers come through over the Rens here, and avenge an early-season loss. Jeff Robinson was big again for Preston (28 points). Abe Upshaw added 19 in the victory. For the Rens, Brody Verbiski had 27 and Osama Qahwash 25 --- Verbiski is in grade 11 while Qahwash is eligible to return for a 5th year next year. Perhaps a sign of things to come?
Thursday, February 18th: Quarterfinals
(8) Preston at (1) Bluevale
(7) Forest Heights at (2) SJAM
