Waterloo 61, Eastwood 40
In today's WCSSAA quarterfinal at WCI, the #4 WCI Vikings controlled from the opening tip and ran away from the #5 ECI Rebels.
In the first 4:00, the Vikes went on a 12-0 run. In fact, during that span the Rebels had only 2 shot attempts --- the reason? Turnovers. They had extreme difficulties against the WCI pressure.
The Vikes actually scored the first 16 points of the game before Mirza Zahic scored a layup. However, out of frustration he shoved a WCI player after scoring and was hit with a technical foul. WCI converted both FTs and led 18-2 after the first quarter.
WCI scored the first 9 points of the 2nd frame and actually led the game 33-3 (!). The Rebels got it going a bit offensively and closed the half 11-7 to head to the locker room down 40-14.
Eastwood made only 3 field goals in the first half (3/18 = 16.7%).
The rest of the game was mostly a formality, as the Rebs only got within 20 once. They chipped away down the stretch but WCI was happy to have the time tick away.
Jacob Ranton hit 4 first half threes and finished with a game high 20 points. Djordje Govedarica and Mirza Zahic (13 & 12 respectively) led Eastwood.
