Junior
St. Benedict 50, St. David 38
The Saints lock up at least 3rd place in the D8 standings; they have a while (February 7th) until their next league game and it is a big one against Resurrection. If they can win by 15+ points, they will secure their first home playoff game in a few years.
D8 Junior Standings
1. St. Mary's 6-0**
2. Resurrection 4-2*
3. St. Benedict 4-3*
4. St. David 1-5
5. Rockway 0-5
* - clinched playoff spot
** - clinched first overall
Senior
Resurrection 2, PRDG 0 (forfeit)
My Pick: RCSS
Not sure if PRDG didn't have the horses for this one --- but I heard that it went down as a forfeit. Record reporter Mark Bryson's article the other week on PRDG had said they were down to 5 players for their game against Rockway, so another illness or two and they probably couldn't field a team. At any rate, chalk this one up to Rez.
St. David 47, St. Benedict 45
My Pick: SDCSS
The Celts clinch 3rd place with a tight win over St. Benedict. Dan Hummel had 15 and Tyson Lavigne 12 to lead the way for St. David; Kueth Geng continued his strong play as of late for the Saints with 11. David DiAngelo added 10 more for SBCSS.
St. Mary's 66, Monsingor Doyle 28
My Pick: SMHS
Looks like the Eagles' junior team (or at least some of them) played against the Mustangs, who are essentially a junior team themselves with the majority of their players in grade 9. Grade 10 SMHS junior star Chris Clouthier led the scoring with 19 points; Liam Rivard had 13 for MDCSS and Ryan Stanley added 5.
D8 Senior Standings
T1. Resurrection 8-1*
T1. St. Mary's 8-1*
3. St. David 6-3*
T4. St. Benedict 4-5
T4. Rockway 4-5
6. PRDG 2-7
7. Monsingor Doyle 0-10
* - clinched playoff spot
