In an exhibition matchup on Saturday afternoon at the University of Waterloo, the Resurrection Phoenix (AAAA #2) defeated the Lourdes Crusaders (AA #1) by a 61-39 final.
The site for the contest (Waterloo) was also an opportunity for the UW coaching staff a chance to evaluate some of the players in this one --- Tyler Schneider (RCSS), Mike Finoro (OLOL), Mike Pereira (RCSS) and Andrew Mwangi (RCSS) are among the prospects that could eventually end up in a CIS or OCAA uniform.
Of course, current Resurrection coach Tom Schneider was also a standout for the Warriors back in the day; he currently ranks 9th on UW's all-time scoring list (1909 points) while he also stands 4th on the all-time list in made free throws (490) and second in career three-point percentage (48.2%).
Scoring details weren't immediately available but the Phoenix used their size advantage to hammer the Crusaders on the boards and established a comfortable advantage which they maintained throughout the game.
