WCSSAA & D10: Thursday Picks

D10 YTD:  23-4 (.851)
WCSSAA YTD:  32-8 (.800)

In both WCSSAA & D10 play today, we don't have many of the "upper tier" teams squaring off.  That being said, I'm still expecting a few close games (and possibly even an upset or two) as teams readjust after the Christmas break.

We'll start things off with the D10 games today:

D10

Centre Wellington (5-4) at JF Ross (8-0)
Pick:  JFR
A Falcon win would be huge for them, especially considering the current logjam after the first couple of teams in the D10 league.  That said, asking for a win at JF Ross is quite a task --- I'll take the Royals here.

Centennial (5-4) at Guelph CVI (2-7)
Pick:  CCVI
A team that the aforementioned Falcons are in a battle with for playoff positioning and (possibly) one of the CWOSSA "AAAA" berths is the Centennial Spartans.  They have a good chance to pick up a win here on the road, and as long as they aren't looking too far ahead to their home tournament this weekend, they should pick up the "W" here.

Orangeville (0-7) at Lourdes (5-4)
Pick:  OLOL
Lourdes should continue the Bears' losing streak as they win here.

WCSSAA

Glenview Park (2-4) at WCI (3-3)
Pick:  WCI
The Panthers are much improved from last year, but I don't think they'll be able to surprise the defensively minded WCI Vikings on the road today. 

Eastwood (2-4) at Galt (2-4)
Pick:  GCI
Have to go with the Ghosts here in a big game between two teams currently on the cusp of playoff participation.  Should be a hard-fought battle, though.

Huron Heights (2-4) at SJAM (6-0)
Pick:  SJAM
SJAM should continue their winning ways at the expense of the up-and-coming Huron Heights Huskies.

Southwood (3-3) at Forest Heights (6-0)
Pick:  FHCI
Though I don't think FHCI will finish the regular season undefeated, I'll take them to beat Southwood at home in what I suspect will be a single-digit game.

Preston (0-5) at Bluevale (5-1)
Pick:  BCI
The Panthers will be the lone winless team after today's WCSSAA action, thanks to the JHSS Hawks getting a "bye win" on the schedule.

WODSS (3-3) at Cameron Heights (5-1)
Pick:  CHCI
The Gaels should be able to take out the Crusaders with ease at home.

KCI (4-2) at Grand River (4-2)
Pick:  GRCI
Clearly the "game of the day", as it's the lone WCSSAA game where both teams are above .500 on the season.  Though the Raiders have surprised some teams thus far, the Rens have more talent so I'll peg them to win this one.
