The Phoenix are looking to avoid what happened last year in their regular season matchup, where St. Mary's scored 5 points in the final 23 seconds (including a buzzer-beater three) to win by that margin, 55-52.
To be fair, we probably won't see too much from both coaches in this one, as they understand that they are currently the class of the D8 league. That said, it's getting to be a huge rivalry between these schools, so by the same token, I wouldn't expect the players to simply "go through the motions" here --- I expect an intense basketball game (FYI - tip at 3:30pm).
I'll ride with the team that's hot right now, the Resurrection Phoenix, in a very close game at SMHS.
St. Benedict (3-4) at Rockway (4-4)
Pick: SBCSS
Essentially the winner of this game will (likely) get the 4th and final D8 playoff berth. Edge to the Saints, who also won the first meeting between these clubs.
Monsignor Doyle at PRDG (1-7)
Pick: PRDG
I'll go with the Chevaliers to take out Doyle at home in a close affair.
