The St. Mary's Eagles opened up their action at the Centennial College tournament with a 67-39 loss to Notre Dame of Ajax, who are currently ranked in the top 3 high school teams in Ontario (and #1 in the GTA).
The Eagles received a 17-point effort from Kaitlyn Schenck, while Lindsay Panchan led Notre Dame with 22.
Things aren't going to get any easier for St. Mary's this afternoon, either.
As the tournament format pits first round winners against first round losers in the second round, the Eagles will play another top team out of the GTA, Brampton's Campion SS. Campion defeated Senator O'Connor 55-24 in their game this morning.
A win would advance the Eagles to the consolation quarterfinals tomorrow at noon, while a loss would have them play in the consolation quarterfinals at 9:00am.
